农村环境与社会研究中心（CRESS）是中国社会科学院社会学研究所于2007年在福特基金会的资助下建立起来的。它是研究农村环境与社会问题的机构。中心不仅包括社会学和环境科学背景的专职研究人员，还有多年来研究农村发展的学者。此外，中心还将以开放的形式邀请兼职研究人员。

CRESS was established in 2007 as a Centre in the Institute of Sociology with funding from the Ford Foundation. CRESS aims to protect the interests of vulnerable rural residents through site-based projects and policy recommendations. CRESS have not only full-time scholars in the field of sociology and environmental sciences, but also senior researcher studying rural development. Moreover, CRESS is open for part-time researchers on relative fields.
